  1. I think the baloon did not pop because the water made the area the match was held to cooler, thus making the latex cold, then preventing the pop

  2. I think that the water in the balloon protected the balloon from the fire. The moisture of the water protected the balloon from the heat. And the regular balloon filled with air popped, because it had no moisture inside to protect it from the flame.

  3. I think that the second balloon did not pop because the water from inside condensated when the burning match was put below it.  The layer of water underneath prevented the fire from heating the rubber to the point that it popped.  Also maybe the flame sucked all the air out of the balloon, causing it to implode.  With water inside, maybe it could not implode.

  4. I think it didn't pop because the water "absorbed" the heat. I think this because you put the match where the water was but if you put it where there was nothing but air I think it might pop.

  5. I believe that the balloon did not pop, because the water inside it is heat resistant, therefore, no flame could get to the balloon and pop it. I also think that it could have to do with the col temperature of the watwer, and that the cool temperature blocked the heat from getting in and popping the balloon.

  6. I believe that the balloon did not pop with water, because water is fire resistant, and the flame could not get to the air inside the balloon, because it was filled with water. I also think it might have to do with the colder temperateure of the water, and that the heat could not get in, so it made the blackened marks on the balloon.

  7. I think that the balloon with water in it didn't burn because the water protected it from the fire. The balloon with air inside burned because there was only air inside of it, and fire needs air to burn. I think that water prevents fire from catching hold because water puts fires out.

  8. The water protected and made a cold shield and protected the rubber from popping. The one with out water wasn't protected by the water and the rubber got too hot and popped:)

  9. I think the second one didnt pop because the water made the plastic cold wich stopped the flame. Or maybe the water created a sheild for the flame.

  10. I think the ballon didn't pop when it was full of water because the water in the ballon stops the heat from going through and the water absorbs the heat so that means the heat can't travle to the other side of the ballon and pop it.

  11. I think it didn't pop because the balloon was to moist to let the match burn a hole through it. Also because the water acted as a shield and refused to let the fire go through it. When the balloon was filled with air, there was nothing to stop the match, so it popped. I am not sure yet which one it is, out of the first two but I think it was the second one.

  12. I think the ballon did not explode when the water was in it because if you put water on fire in puts out the fire, and if it is on the stove the water just boils. I think that is what happened in the balloon. WHen there was nothing in the balloon it popped because the air reinforced the fire in a way. For example when you blow under a fire it make the fire bigger, I think it is like that.

  13. I think it popped when it had air in it because air sets off fire, like it feeds the fire and i think it didnt pop with the water balloon because it was to cold. (?)

  14. The water stoppped the baloon from popping becuase the water kept the fire out of the water and made it impossible to pop.

  15. I think that the baloon with just the air popped because the heat could get in, so the baloon filled up with heat and popped. The baloon with the water in it didnt allow the heat to get in so it did not pop.

    • I think the baloon with water didn't pop becasue it was filled with water, keeping the baloon cold. The baloon without water popped because the rubber got too hot, causing it to pop

  16. I think the balloon with water didn't pop because of the amount of pressure that the water inside had. So when the match went against the balloon the water wouldn't let it pop because of the pressure it was putting on the outside of the balloon.????

  17. I think that what happened with the balloon of water happened because of the amount of pressure inside the balloon. I think the amount of water put inside the balloon will affect the pressure of the ballon. The pressure is important to the outcome because it is reasonable that when fire gets put on something the pressure will change. Overall I think that the pressure stayed withen the zone of not popping when the match touched it so it didn't pop and the ballon without water, didn't

    • I think the water ballon didnt pop but the balloon with no water did  becasue the water protected the balloon becasue usually water stops something from burning so maybe the burning is what popped the ballon so the water was like a proctective layer of the balloon, but on the other balloon with no water it was defenceless against the match.

  18. I think that the balllon with water didin't pop because of the pressure of the water and the coldness pushing the heat out, alomst like the matterial of the ballon kept the water and fire not to touch. Also the one without water poppped because it didnt have the presure of the water to keep the heat under control.

  19. I think that the balloon with water did not pop because the water put pressure on the ballon and helped cool the balloon from the heat. I also think that because the one without water heated up fast and then popped but the one with water in it did not because the water put pressure on it.

  20. I think the balloon didn't pop when it was a water balloon because the water aborbed the heat. I think that kind of like when the water in a lake absorbs the heat from the sun, the water inside the balloon absorbed the heat from the match instead of the balloon absorbing the heat and breaking. I could be wrong though.

  21. I have 2 possible reasons as of why the air balloon pops. Although, my firstone is way more likely than the other. One reason is that with the balloon of air, it was room temperature inside of it and did not cool down the latex. The below room temperature water balloon kept cooling down the latex even while the match is underneath the balloon so it charred the outside but only so. The second and much less likely readon is the gas(the air), when it heats up, becomes less dense, therefore spreading the molecules until the balloon pops. The water balloon didn't pop because it was to dense to warmup in a reasonable amount of time. The fault in this theory is in the video the balloon didn't expand, or at least didn't seem to (for me).

  22. I agree, and think that it didn't pop the second time was that the water filling was stronger than the gas filling. I know that water is a stronger and denser matter than gas.

  23. I think the balloon didn't pop the second time because the water protected the balloon's insides. I think the first time it popped was because the gas inside it wasn't strong enough to hold the balloon together. I know the water is a stronger matter than gas, so maybe that's why.

  24. I think the reason the water balloon didn't pop was because the water on the inside kept it from popping. It just burned the bottom of the balloon. The water makes the rubber thicker so it wont rip or pop. Without the water's density, the regualer balloon's water is too weak so it just pops.

  25. I think that the ballon with out water poped because the ballon only had a thin, lets call it a shell, with nothing inside of it. When the ligther toughed the air ballon it burned right througt the shell and poped the ballon. When the lighter toughted the ballon with water, the water acted like a wall. I think of this like water puts out fire, so when the ligher toughted the ballon it was not able to pop it. That is what I thought happen in this experment.

  26. I think the ballon poped when the fire was under it because heat rises and i think the heat got trapped in the ballon and expaned and popped. I think the ballon didnt pop when the water ws in it because the heat couldnt rise into water.

  27. I think the balloon with only air inside popped because the fire burned a hole in the bottom, and all the air came out. I think the balloon with water in it didn't pop, because the water was making the part of the balloon that it touched cooler than the rest of the balloon, so the match couldn't melt a hole in the balloon.

  28. I think that the balloon filled with water didn’t pop, because the outside (skin) of the balloon is very thin so the water could cool the balloon. Also, I think the water absorbs almost all of the heat from the flame so that the temperature of the balloon skin around it can’t increase enough to burn and then eventually pop.

  29. I think the ballon with the water didn't pop because of the water in it. It is heavier and has more protection than the air ballon. Since water makes fire go away, there might of been water on the ballon or the water inside the ballon made it not pop.

  30. I think that he air inside the air-filled balloon popped because it isn’t very good at transferring the heat energy away from the rubber of the balloon. As a result, the heat energy damages the thin layer of rubber of the balloon. As the air inside the balloon pushes against the weakened rubber, it makes the weakness in the balloon get larger, until eventually the balloon pops. I also think that the water filled balloon didn’t pop because while the water is being heated, the molecules are moving. I think that the heat is constantly being transferred away from the balloon like a cycle, so the balloon remains undamaged by the flame.

  31. I think that when the balloon was filled with air, it had nothing inside of it to protect it, so it just popped because of the heat. When the balloon was filled with water the heat wasn't able to get inside, so the balloon didn't pop, it just created black spots on the bottom of the balloon from where it burnt.

  32. I think the ballon did not pop because it was filled with water and not oxegen so instead of feeding the fire with oxegen inside the ballon like the first ballon, it resisted. Since the fire can't continue if it does not are oxgen the water in side the ballon did not have enough oxegen to continue feeding the fire so the fire did not go there. Or something long those lines anway. This is all just what I think.

  33. I think that the balloon didn't pop when there was water in it because the water prevented the air inside the balloon from getting hot and popping the rubber.

    • I agree with you. Probably the water inside the ballon protected the ballon from the heat and the air balloon had nothing protecting it.

  34. I think the balloon didn't pop when it was full of water because the water was sort of blocking against the match pushing it. Does that make sense? Like, when the match was next to the balloon filled with air, the balloon didn't have anything inside so when the match touched it, it exploded because it was empty. So the water was sort of "protecting" the inside.

    Anyway, that's what I think. I'm probably wrong :(.
